April 1959. Tanya Meshcherskaya, who grew up in an orphanage, goes to Moscow to visit her father, academician Vikenty Ryabinsky. She has with her a letter to her father and an old brooch inherited from her mother, which is stolen. Vincent is happy to have a daughter, as he loved her mother, Lilya Meshcherskaya.
