Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is a prequel to the movie, before the food has fallen from the sky. In it, tween Flint Lockwood is an aspiring scientist/inventor, and his best friend, Sam Sparks, the new girl in town, is a wannabe school reporter. The main characters from the original film will also appear in the series including Flint's father, Tim; Steve the monkey; Mayor Shelbourne; teenage babywear model Brent; Earl who isn't a cop yet but a gym teacher; and Manny, who runs the school's audio-visual department.
